It is essential to periodically update the firmware of your SimpliSafe® System to ensure you have access to the most recent features and security improvements. Here is a guide to help you navigate the update process:
Initiating Updates: Firmware updates for the Base Station and Keypad are not automated to prevent service disruptions. You must manually initiate updates when prompted:
Look for the gear symbol on your Keypad or receive a notification in the SimpliSafe® App indicating an available update.
To update the Base Station firmware, utilize the SimpliSafe® App. Please be aware that updating from the app will not update the Keypad firmware.
To update the Keypad, wait for the gear icon to appear on the Keypad or access it directly: Menu > enter your Primary PIN > System Settings > Check for Updates.
If you have multiple Keypads, each one must be updated individually.
Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your SimpliSafe® System is connected to Wi-Fi to receive updates. If you have recently set up your system and connected to Wi-Fi for the first time, it may take up to an hour to download and apply all necessary updates.
Troubleshooting Keypad Issues: If your Keypad experiences functionality issues following a firmware update, low battery power may be the cause:
Remove all four batteries from the Keypad.
Wait for 3 minutes.
Install new batteries in the Keypad.
These steps should resolve most Keypad performance issues post-update.
Additional Tips: Stay alert for notifications or the gear symbol to stay informed about firmware changes. Regular updates are crucial for maintaining system performance and security.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your SimpliSafe® System is always equipped with the latest firmware, enhancing both functionality and security features.
