How to Test Your WiFi Speed
Learn how to accurately measure your connection to determine if you are getting what you pay for.

Testing Properly
To get an accurate result, use a wired connection to your router first if possible. This tests the speed coming from your ISP. Then, run a test over WiFi in different rooms. Use reputable speed test sites rather than your provider's own tool to get unbiased results.
Interpreting Results
If your wired test matches your plan, but your WiFi test is slow, the issue is your router or physical obstructions. If both are slow, contact your ISP to report a line issue. Keep in mind that wireless speeds will naturally vary based on the distance from the access point and the number of devices currently in use.
