Preparation and Safety You should never attempt to remove a large TV from a wall mount alone. Always have at least one other person to assist with the weight. Ensure you have a flat, padded surface nearby, like a bed or a couch, to lay the TV on once it is removed. ## The Removal Process Most wall mounts feature a locking mechanism, such as screws at the bottom of the mounting brackets or a pull-cord release. First, locate these mechanisms and disengage them. Carefully tilt the bottom of the TV outward, lift it upward to clear the hook, and slowly pull it away from the wall. Once off, immediately lay the television face-down on your prepared surface to prevent it from tipping over.
