How to Use the Netflix Shuffle Feature

Finding the Button

Netflix introduced the 'Play Something' (often called Shuffle) feature to help combat 'decision paralysis.' You can usually find the button on the main profile selection screen or within the side navigation menu of the app. When you click it, the service doesn't just play a random video; it uses its recommendation algorithm to select a movie or show it believes you will enjoy based on your past viewing history.

Why It Is Useful

This feature is particularly helpful if you want to watch something, but don't want to spend thirty minutes scrolling through menus. If you don't like the selection, you can simply click the 'Play Something Else' button to jump to a different recommendation. It is an excellent way to discover hidden gems or finally start that series you added to your list months ago but never got around to watching.
