The Eye-Level Rule

The golden rule of TV mounting is to have the center of the screen at eye level while you are seated. For most viewers, this puts the middle of the TV approximately 42 inches from the floor. This minimizes neck strain and creates a more natural viewing experience compared to placing it high above a fireplace.

Adjusting for Your Furniture

If you have high-profile seating or prefer to lie back, you may need to tilt the screen downward slightly. Use a tilting wall mount to achieve this without needing to mount the TV higher. If you are mounting in a bedroom, you can mount the screen slightly higher to accommodate your line of sight while reclining in bed, but always ensure your mount is secure and leveled correctly.
