What Is Windows 10 S Mode, and How Do You Turn It Off?
Understand the limitations of S Mode and the permanent process for moving to standard Windows 10 or 11.

Understanding S Mode
Windows S Mode is a locked-down version of the operating system designed for security and speed. It only allows apps to be installed from the Microsoft Store and restricts your browser to Microsoft Edge. While this makes the computer virtually immune to traditional malware, it is extremely limiting for power users or those who need niche software.
How to Switch to Standard Windows
If you find your workflow hindered, switching out of S Mode is simple. Open your Settings, navigate to 'Update & Security,' and select 'Activation.' You will see an option to switch to the full version of Windows via the Microsoft Store. Please note that this is a one-way street; once you disable S Mode, you cannot turn it back on without factory resetting your device.
