What Is Amazon Sidewalk, and Should You Turn It Off?

What Is Sidewalk?

Amazon Sidewalk is a shared network that connects compatible devices to the internet. It helps devices stay connected even if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or drops out. By using a small portion of your home's bandwidth to share with neighbors, Sidewalk creates a low-power, wide-coverage network for smart devices like trackers and outdoor lights.

Privacy and Control

While Sidewalk provides redundancy for your devices, some users have privacy concerns about sharing their connection. If you prefer to keep your network strictly private, you can easily opt out. In the Alexa app, go to 'More,' select 'Settings,' then 'Account Settings,' and tap on 'Amazon Sidewalk' to toggle the feature off. It is entirely up to you how your network is utilized.
