Understanding iPhone Water Resistance
Don't panic if your phone gets wet—here is how to properly handle water exposure.

Water Resistance vs. Waterproofing
No iPhone is truly waterproof; they are water-resistant to a specific depth and duration. Over time, that resistance degrades due to drops and normal wear. If your phone gets wet, do not submerge it further or use a hair dryer to heat the components.
Safe Drying Techniques
If your phone is exposed to liquid, wipe the exterior dry with a clean microfiber cloth. Tap the phone gently against your hand with the charging port facing down to dislodge excess liquid. Leave the device in a dry, well-ventilated area for several hours. Avoid plugging in a charger until you are certain the port is completely dry, as residual moisture can cause short circuits.
